Niger state Government has asked the Dangote Group and other private sector operators to consider playing a role in the exploration of crude oil at the Bida Basin of Niger State.
Speaking at a fireside session on the Dangote Special Day at the just conclude Niger National Trade Fair in Minna, the Commissioner for for Trade, Investment, Industry and Private Sector Development, Hon. Aminu Suleiman Takuma, said the Niger state is partnering private sector under it’s one stop shop model to develop the state crude oil potential.
He said the state will only hold a minimal stake through a joint venture-PPP.
Hon Takuma commended the Dangote Group for being on the process of building the biggest refinery in the world.
He said the state is opened for business, nothing that steps will be taken to continue to attract investors.
Regional Director and Senior Adviser to Aliko Dangote, Fatima Wali Abdurrahman, said Dangote is a natural partner of Niger state, with a huge investment in rice processing at Wishishi.
She commended Governor Umaru Bago for initiating policies that will attract investors.
According to her, Dangote will not relent in its partnership with the State.
The Commissioners for Homeland Security, and Agriculture and food security, were also at the discussion panel.
Representative of the Emir of Minna, Dr Umar Bakai, also attended the company’s Special Day.
Dangote Group is the major sponsor of the Trade Fair.
