Azman Air company has reacted to the purported suspension of its operations by Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA on Thursday.
Reports indicated that the indigenous airline was suspended for failure to renew its Air Operator Certificate, AOC.
In a swift reaction, the company said it had not been suspended, but rather, suspend its operations in order to settle the payment of Air Travel License, ATL.
Although there is no official statement from Azman Air, a source in the Kano state branch of the firm, who pleaded anonymity because it is not authorized to speak, comfirmed to BizPoint that the NCAA had not suspended the company.
According to the source, the media reports that NCAA suspended Azman Air for failing to pay AOC is not true, explaining that the company was to pay ATL instead.

The source further explained that airline companies were paying for extension of their ATL when it was about to expire, adding that when Azman Air attempted to pay for extension of the license, they were told that the new system had been introduced where the firms could only renew for their license.
The source added that “this time around, our ATL would expire today (Thursday). We attempted to pay for the extension of the ATL, only to be told that we are now to pay for renewal and the extension of license is now an old system.
“Actually, since last week, we attempted to pay for the extension. Now, we are on the process of paying for the renewal. By tomorrow, everything would be resolved.
“But, i emphasized that Azman Air is not suspended by NCAA. It is the management of the company that decided to suspend its operations until it resolve the issues to its logical conclusion. By tomorrow, everything will be resolved and our operation resumes,” the source said.
