Tijjaniyya Islamic sect has called on the presidential candidate of All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu to ensure improvement of rail transportation and completion of river-Niger dredging if he win the 2023 election.
The sect made the call when it presented 15-point on Sunday to Tinubu, who is in Kano state for a two-day consultation visit at the government house.
Delivering his speech, the leader of the sect, Sayyadi Bashir Usman said completion of dredging of rever-Niger would improve the economy of the North.
According to Sayyadi Usman, part of the demands include improvement of security in northern Nigeria to enable citizens, both Muslims and Christians to practice their religion and run businesses peacefully.
He also tasked Tinubu to ensure improvement of agriculture in the northern Nigeria, noting that the region can feed not only the country but the whole Africa.

He also told the former governor of Lagos State to ensure of the region if he is elected as president in 2023.
“We have our demands documented to present to your Sir. As Muslims, we are enjoined to advice our leaders in order to guide them lead well.
“Our demands are that we want to you, if you win the election, to improve security for people in the North, both Muslims and Christians to practice their religion and run their businesses without fear.
“We also want you to complete rever-Niger dredging to enable us access commodities with ease and that would bring down the inflation.
“If you are elected in 2023, we demand that you provide employment opportunities for our teeming youths to make them engaged in order not to be involved in committing crimes,”
In his response, Tinubu promised to reposition Nigeria along economic development.
He said he would provide electricity better than Dubai, adding that he would provide power 100 percent to Nigeria.
Can you industrialize a nation without electricity? without which everything will be too expensive, then you will not have a competitive market.
“You don’t need a party that spent 16 years and forgot that electricity is the only driver of economy. You spent $16b on electricity but you are still grappling with estimated meter reading and billing, i will correct all this.
“I will provide stable electricity for the nation,” Tinubu promised.
