Centre for Information Technology and Development, CITAD, has given post-training support worth N2,475,000 to 26 beneficiaries of the Digital Creativity and Innovation for Young Women, DICI-YOW, training.
The programme, which is aimed at promoting digital innovation among women, was supported by the Lenovo Foundation.
BizPoint reports that beneficiaries from Kano and Bauchi states were selected from over 380 applications, with 110 proposals chosen and 27 excelling in their submissions.

Speaking at the cheque presentation to the beneficiaries Engr. Y.Z. Ya’u, the Executive Director of CITAD, stated that the training is aimed at empowering young girls with digital skills, entrepreneurship knowledge, and gadget operation.
Represented by Ali Sabo, Campaign and Communication Officer of the centre, Ya’u explained that ”Based on the category of their proposals, technological proposals received N150,000, while other business areas received N75,000 as capital to launch their businesses”
”This is the first batch of the beneficiaries. This is what we are rounding up today and other batches will commence soon,” he said.
He said, the center has planned to ensure monitoring of the beneficiaries progress in their businesses with the capital given to them.
Sabo urged beneficiaries to use the funds judiciously and become employers of labor.
In her contribution, Zainab Aminu, CITAD’s Technical Assistant, advised the beneficiaries to use the funds “creatively and innovatively” in line with the training’s goals of digital creativity and innovation.
Aisha Abdullahi Nayawo, speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, said they were trained in Basic Information Technology, Microsoft Excel, Graphic Designing, Digital Marketing, and other skills.
She commended CITAD for the training and empowerment funds and pledged to use the funds wisely, become employers of labor, and extend the knowledge and skills gained from the training to their communities.
