The Kano state Commissioner of Commerce, Alhaji Sani Abbas has said that the era of supplying fake, expired and substandard products into the state is over.
The Commissioner stated this while inspecting a factory at Tokarawa industrial site in Kano, according to a statement by Sabo Yahaya Aliyu
Director Public Enlightenment, Kano State Consumer Protection Council on Saturday.
The statement said the Commissioner maintained that government would not fold its arms “while some people are trying to make the state a dumping ground for fake, substandard and damaged products.”
Abbas pointed out that being Kano a commercial nerve centre, is not meant that people should used the opportunity to supply adulterated items into the state.
“He said the present administration is poised to ensure manufacturers and producers adhere to the ethics of their business
“The Commissioner warned that henceforth anybody found wanting in dealing with items that can cause health hazards to the consumer will face the consequence
“Alhaji Sani Abbas, said soon government would provide a blue print of conducting a hitch free business in Kano,” part of the statement reads.
The Commissioner reiterated the government ‘s commitment to ensure sanity in our markets through protecting the right of consumers and producers.
Speaking, the acting managing Director of Kano State Consumer Protection Council, Alhaji Muhammad Sambo Iliyasu, said the visit is aimed at creating synegy between the Council and the Manufacturers as well as intimated them to understand their commitment.
