He noted that Musawa has the requisite experience to move the new ministry forward, expressing optimism that with her at the helm of affairs of the ministry, she would be able to promote the photography, video and film profession to the world standard.

Maikatanga, a photographer with over three decades of experience, also expressed his joy at the gathering’s ability to unite Kano’s photographers, fostering connections and camaraderie.

He further encouraged the younger generation to focus on capturing authenticity through natural photography, rather than relying heavily on editing techniques.

Bizpoint reports that on August 19th each year, the world unites to honor a language that transcends borders and cultures – photography. Recognized as World Photography Day, this exclusive occasion pays homage to the art, science, and history of photography while celebrating the creative works of photographers worldwide.

In Kano, the Kano state Professional Photographers Association of Nigeria, and Northern Photographers Association Kano branch marked the event distinctively. Organizing meet and greet sessions, the community of photographers came together to engage in profound discussions, addressing challenges, charting a way forward, and envisioning the future of their profession.

Esteemed figures in the field, including seasoned veterans, shared their wisdom and encouragement with the emerging generations.

Isa Muhammad Salisu, the personal assistant to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State and the event’s organizer, highlighted his satisfaction at witnessing photographers united under one banner, emphasizing his unwavering support for the community.

Abdulwahab Said Ahmad, in his address, underscored the power of unity as a cornerstone of success, rallying photographers to collaborate wholeheartedly for the advancement of the association.

CEO Tubless Media Concept in his remark emphasized the significance of cooperation as the key to development, he also encouraged the P.A Media to carry everybody along, inspired by his precedor Aminu Dahiru.

Prominent female photographer Firdausi Hadi Ibrahim passionately urged women to venture into the field, championing their potential contributions.

The event attracted dignitaries, including high-ranking government officials such as Salisu Kosawa, the Social Media Aide to the Kano State Governor, and Hajiya Zulaihat Yusuf Aji, the Governor’s Aide on Radio and Television.

Renowned photographers Nasiru Rabiu Tubless, Sir MK Photography, and Majeeda Photography were also in attendance.

During the event, accolades were bestowed on individuals who had made exceptional contributions to the field. Aminu Dahiru, former Aide to Kano State Governor during Abdullahi Ganduje’s tenure, received appreciation for his unwavering support to photography and photographers in Kano.

P.A. Isa Muhammad Salisu was acknowledged for his dedication, as well as the Kano State Governor’s commitment to nurturing the talents and aspirations of future generations.

The roots of World Photography Day extend back to the year 1839 when British scientist Sir John Herschel coined the term “photography” from the Greek words “phos” (light) and “graph” (drawing).
