Governor of Kano state, Abba Kabir Yusuf has appealed to the Federal Government to give more allocation of palliative to the state, considering the fact that it has the highest population in the country.
Yusuf made the call while briefing newsmen shortly before the the commencement of the weekly Executive Council meeting at the Government House on Wednesday, according to statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Sanusi Bature Dawakin-Tofa.
He said the governor disclosed that his administration had spent about N1.6 billion to purchase trucks millet, maize and rice for distribution to the people of the state.

Dawakin-Tofa said the governor added that this was in addition to the five trucks of rice donated by the Federal Government to the state, assuring that modalities had already been designed to ensure that the rice reached the vulnerable people in the society.
The governor, according to Dawakin-Tofa, said his administration was highly disturbed by the hardships the people of the state were facing as a result of the removal of fuel subsidy.
He commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s initiatives on palliatives, saying that the measure would help in easing the suffering of the people.
He also disclosed that the state government was working out a plan to provide cows, sheep and goats to empower women, especially those in the rural areas for self reliance and economic prosperity.
Yusuf also said his administration would include civil servants in the distribution of the palliative, calling on them to be punctual and remain committed to their duties as the present administration would not condone truancy and negligence to duty.
He said that the state government would do all it would take to improve the welfare of the civil servants.
He appreciated the support and cooperation of the people of the state to his administration and prayed for the sustenance of the tempo for the overall interest of the people of the state.
