Kano state government said it has paid the whopping sum of N700 million to settle the registration fee of 7,000 indigent students in Bayero University Kano, BUK.

BizPoint reports that the university had recently announced astronomical increment in registration fees, which according to it, was due to rise in cost of living, occasioned by removal of fuel subsidy in the country.

He said details of the scholarship would be made available in due course.

“As part of our efforts to cushion the biting effects of our current economic reality; The Kano State Executive Council under my leadership has today, approved the release of the sum of Seven Hundred Million Naira to settle tuition fees for 7000 students of Bayero University Kano (BUK).

“Further details of the initiative will be made available in due course. – AKY,” the tersed tweet said.
