The Kano State Chapter of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, IPMAN, has elected new leaders that will chair the activities of the association in the state.
This follows the end of the tenure of the immediate past leadership, under Bashir Ahmad Dan-Mallam , who lead the association for ten years.
During the election and swearing in ceremony which take place at Niima Guest Palace in Kano, Alhaji Gana Abubakar Girgir emerged as the chairman of the association.

Daily Trust reports that Girgir emerged unopposed during the election, along with Alhaji Abubakar Adamu Isawa who was elected as Vice Chairman, Alhaji Mansur Abubakar as Secretary, Alhaji Abdqadir Dahiru Assistant Secretary, and Alhaji Musa Danjuma as Auditor.
Others that emerged as leaders are; Alhaji Kamilu Abdullahi Financial Secretary, Alhaji Musa Muhammad PRO, Alhaji Ya’u Dashi Organizing Secretary, and Alhaji Sulaiman IMG as Legal Adviser.
The remaining are Alhaji Nasiru Ali Garba as Chief Whip, Mukhtar Sallau Lamba ex-officio1, Muhammad Abdulazeez ex-officio 2 and Nasiru Yahaya Maikifi was elected ex-officio 3.
All the 14 new members were sworn in immediately after the election.
Speaking to journalists at the end of the election, the newly emerged chairman said he will focus on ensuring sanity and unity among members of the association to achieve desired goals.
He said the association is already built on strong pillars and defined goals, adding that his leadership will focus on ensuring their bridging claims are been paid by the federal government.
“We thank God for this victory and as you all know we are aware of all the activities and happenings in the association. We will put on from where the past leaders stopped and we will make sure that we fight for the right of our members,” Gana Girgir said.
He urged fellow members to cooperate with the new leadership for them to succeed.
On his part, Chairman of the National Association of Transport Owners in Kano (NATO), Alhaji Salisu Ibrahim Balarabe described the election as peaceful and transparent, urging for continued cordial relations with them.
“We are working together with IPMAN and all we want is a sustainable and cordial relationship between the two organizations. We are happy for the elected leaders and we hope they will cooperate with us, ” he said.
