Stallion Times, an online newspaper has held a one-day training to Kano-based journalists on accurate data collection in investigative journalism in the state.
The training, in which BizPoint reporter was a participant, was organized to appreciate media standards in journalism, understand how to identify, gather and explore a data set for an investigative report.
The participants of the training, tagged; Data Journalism and Media Standards, were also trained to understand data presentation in appropriate visual formats.

Speaking at the opening of the training on Friday, The Chief Executive Officer of Stallion Times, Isiyaku Ahmed charged the
to show professionalism by adhering to rules and regulations guiding the media according to global standards.
Ahmed noted that section 22 of the Nigerian constitution empowered the media to hold government accountable.
He identified some of the operational guidelines of the media to include code of ethics, the constitution, obligations and responsibilities among others.
In his presentation titled: Introduction to data journalism and data journalism process, Ali Isah guided participants on data harvesting and graphic presentation of data, citing examples with the federal and Kano state budget 2023.
Tahir Saleh and Saadatu, presented the Kano tracker, explaining that objectives behind the establishment of the website.
They explained that, the tracker was established to promote transparency and good governance, where the campaign promises made by Kano state governor Engineer Abba Kabir Yusuf would be scrutinized, collated and added to the website.
The said, a citizens portal on the portal paves way for Kano residents to contribute their quota in various aspects.
