The Kano State Executive Council has approved the whopping sum of N5,073,840,000 for procurement of fertilizer in the 44 Local Government areas of the state.
BizPoint reports that this was part of the resolutions of the outcome of the council meeting, chaired by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of the state on Saturday.
The council disclosed that the fund was approved for procurement of fertilizer by the 44 Local Government Councillors to enhance food security and agricultural productivity during the 2024 raining season.

At the meeting, the Executive Council had approved the total sum of N8,629,636,749.4964 for various developmental projects as follows:
1- Revocation and Re-award of contract for the construction of Post Midwifery Institute at Gezawa Local Government Area at the sum of 770,858,450.39.
2- Reconstruction and Renovation of Defective Wall/Fence and Surroundings at Nassarawa Emir’s Palace at the sum of 99,928,541.63.
3- Rehabilitation of water supply infrastructure at government house at the sum of 126,987,787.
4- Pipeline extension to Kwanar Yan Shana and Unguwar Rimi communities at the sum of 116,000,000.
5- Release of funds for the procurement of essentials drugs and welcome packs for newborns, free maternal, neonatal, child health and free accidental and emergency commodity for January to March, 2024 at the sum of 165,000,000.
6- Repair of 18km old water pipeline at Dambatta LGA and its Environs at the sum of 129,636,102.
7- Construction of 138No. new hand pump boreholes under the second phase of PEWASH programme State Matching Project at some local government areas at the sum of 193,000,000.
8- Revocation and Re-award of contract for the completion of the construction of college of Nursing and Midwifery at Madobi local government area at the sum of 57,066,422.52.
9- Payment for the excess workload allowances to the two state owned universities ADUDT and YUMDUK at the sum of 447,621,640.79.
10- Construction of Magistrate courts complex at the premises of Gidan Murtala at the sum of 259,143,824.08.
11- The procurement of fertilizer by the 44 Local Government Councillors to enhance food security and agricultural productivity during the 2024 raining season at the cost of 5,073,840,000.
12- Completion of community hospital at Kadawa quarters in Gwale LGA at the cost of 61,852,719.02.
13- Renovation & Upgrading of D-ward for the establishment of sickle cell unit at Murtala Muhd Specialist Hospital, Kano at the sum of 81,621,546.76.
14- Construction/Renovation works at Infectious Diseases Hospital to accommodate the new Kano State Centre for Diseases Control at the sum of 64,825,000.83.
15- Construction/Renovation works at School of Health Technology, Kano at the sum of 35,064,433.28.
16- Construction/Renovation works at college of Nursing, Kano and Midwifery, Dambatta at the sum of 28,525,132.14.
17- Rehabilitation of Hostels and Toilets at NYSC Orientation Camp Kusalla, Karaye LGA at the sum of 22,521,312.96.
18- Renovation of Administrative block and construction of staff quarters at Nigerian Law School (Kano Campus) Bagauda Kano at the sum of 68,566,227.02.
19- Construction of Demarcation wall dense at the existing grave yard situated at Rijiyar Zaki (Makabartar Byepass) Ungogo LGA at the sum of 63,353,469.51.
20- Renovation/Construction and Conversion works at former offices of KASUBA, Policy Strategy and Implementation Directorate behind coronation Hall at the sum of 99,869,599.46.
21- Construction of Fense, Gate and Gate House at Ghari College of Education and Preliminary Studies (GHCEPS) at the sum of 46,535,666.84.
22- General renovation works at Isolation Centre, Yargaya, Dawakin Kudi LGA at the sum of 17,400,345.39.
23- Purchase of 4No. Fairly used Toyota fairly used Hilux and 10no. Motorcycles for official use by the Federal Fire Service Kano Command and Joint Task Force on curtailing Kidnapping and other banditry activities in the state at the sum of 163,632,500.
24- Purchase of Operational Vehicles to enable the State Internal Revenue Service (KIRS) execute its planned revenue generation drive at the cost of 241,927,868.06.
25- Reconstruction/Conversion of Gidan Murtala ground floor to accommodate a new ministry at the sum of 196,853,158.99.
