Residents of Gaida area in Kumbotso Local Government in Kano state have jubilated the restoration of power after about two weeks without electricity supply in the state.
Several northern states have been plunged into darkness following the tripping of the 330kV transmission line between Benue and Enugu states.
Earlier, the Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, said the repair works at the damaged site would be completed in the next five days.

However, on Wednesday, the electricity had been restored in four states under the Jos Electricity Distribution franchise – Plateau, Bauchi, Gombe, and Benue.
In Gaida area, the electricity was restored around 9:00 pm on Wednesday, throwing residents of the area into jubilation.
Women and children came out of their houses, screaming “NEPA” !! as other ladies were recording the scene with their mobile phones.
When contacted, the spokesman of Kano Electricity Distribution Company, KEDCO, Sani Bala Sani, said the power was restored in Kano approximately 5:30pm.
He said the supply is from an emergency line created to provide energy for the affected states before the main line is fixed in the coming days.
According to him, Kano had received 40mw which would be used across the state before the main repair work is completed.
