Ministry of Environment and Climate Change has received an International Society of Tropical Foresters, ISTF, Green Award.
BizPoint reports that the Commissioner scooped the accolade at the 2025 ISTF conference in Kano on Thursday.
In a statement he personally signed, Dr Hashim said the award was a collective efforts in environmental sustainability and governance in Kano State.
During the conference, he said, he announced some key developments in environmental agenda of the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf in the state.
The Commissioner disclosed that the governor had approved an increase in forest guards’ salaries and the recruitment of new personnel, describing it as “an important step”.
“I’m honored to have received the ISTF Green Award at the 2025 Nigeria Conference in Kano, an acknowledgment of our collective efforts in environmental sustainability and governance in Kano State.
“During the conference, I announced some key developments in our environmental agenda. His Excellency has approved an increase in forest guards’ salaries and the recruitment of new personnel, an important step in strengthening forest protection.
“The recruitment portal will open shortly. Our 2025 state-wide tree planting campaign is set to launch, alongside strengthened policies on pollution control, climate action, and shelterbelt restoration.
“I urge all citizens to support these efforts, say no to indiscriminate tree felling, plant trees, and engage in community sensitization. Environmental protection is not the government’s job alone; it is a shared responsibility.
“Together, we can secure a greener and more sustainable Kano State,” the statement concluded.
