The Kano State Commissioner of Education, Dr. Ali Haruna Makoda, has led a high-powered delegation of senior officials in education sector to Cairo, Egypt, for a specialized programme on Contemporary Leadership and Management in Education Administration.
BizPoint reports that the intensive programme is designed to sharpen participants’ skills in education leadership and administration, as well as equipping them with innovative strategies to enhance efficiency and performance in the sector.
The delegation includes Hon. Wada Ibrahim Daho, Permanent Commissioner I of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB); Mujitapha Aminu, Director of Planning, Research and Statistics at SUBEB and Project Coordinator of AGILE.
Others include Hajiya Mariya Hodi Adamu, Director of Personnel Management, SUBEB; Hajiya Magajiya Usman, Director of Academic Services, SUBEB; and Hajiya Rabi Inuwa Hussain, Director of the Kano Educational Resource Department (KERD), along with other top officials of the board.
Speaking after the opening of the programme, Makoda said the initiative reflects the unwavering commitment of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration to repositioning education in Kano State through global best practices, innovative reforms, and strategic partnerships.
He noted that the initiative is aimed at improving learning outcomes and the overall quality of education across the state.
BizPoint reports that governor Yusuf had in 2024 declared state of emergency on education with a view to reform the decayed sector.
Part of the governor’s resolve to revamp the education sector include allocation of larger share in the state’s 2025 budget.
