A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Kano State, Dr Muhammad Musa Fatah Zango, has declared his intention to contest for the Kano Central senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections.
Dr Fatah made the declaration on Sunday at a meeting with key stakeholders drawn from the 16 local government areas of Kano Central, held in Kano.
Speaking at the declaration, Dr Fatah said his decision to run for the Senate was driven by a desire to bring meaningful change to the zone, drawing from his experience during his time at the Nigerian National Petroleum Company, NNPC.
“We were part of the AKK Gas project, and if given the opportunity, we will ensure its full implementation to boost economic growth and industrial development in our region,” he said.
“I am among those who initiated the AKK Gas project, and if we make it to the Senate, we will make sure the project is completed,” he added.
Dr Fatah expressed concern over what he described as the deterioration of key sectors, including the economy, education, and healthcare.
He pledged to pursue a seven-point agenda aimed at improving the living standards of people in Kano Central.
He also promised to sponsor bills that would support the development of the zone if elected into office.
In addition, the APC aspirant commended the “Kano First” policy of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, noting that it aligns with his own vision for development.
He further praised the achievements recorded under former Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, stating that they worked together during his administration to deliver developmental projects in the state.
The declaration event was attended by top APC stakeholders from Kano Central, as well as youth and women’s groups.
