A Kano State High Court has adjourned hearing in a land dispute case until July 9, 2026.
The suit involves Inusa Alasan and 26 other plaintiffs against Ado Alasan, the Emir of Rano, Alhaji Muhammad Isah of Bunkure LGA, Syno Hydro Trimming Company, and nine other defendants.
The plaintiffs approached the court seeking justice over the alleged usurpation of 27 parcels of farmland located at Gafan, Bunkure LGA, Kano State, claiming to have inherited the land from their parents and have owned it for many years.
Justice Watch News gathered that on April 29, the presiding judge, Justice Nasiru Saminu, granted an interim injunction restraining the defendants from entering, cultivating, selling, leasing, mortgaging, or otherwise interfering with the farmland pending the determination of the motion on notice.
The order also barred the defendants from embarking on construction works or erecting structures on the disputed land.
When the case resumed today, counsels informed the court that the processes had not been fully served on all parties.
Speaking to Justice Watch News, counsel to the plaintiffs, Barrister Abubakar Tijjani Bebeji, said they are seeking a perpetual order affirming their ownership of the land, which they inherited from their parents.
He noted that the interim order restraining the defendants remains in force.
In response, defense counsel Barrister Muhd Aminu Abdullahi argued that his clients acquired the land through due process.
He explained that the court will hear all pending applications on the next adjourned date, July 9, 2026.
