The Kano state government has launched the state’s chapter of Renewed Hope Youth Engagement, RHYE, a federal government initiative designed to encourage youth participation in politics and electoral processes.
The state’s Commissioner, Ministry of Water Resources, Environment and Climate Change,
Kano State, Dahir M. Hashim, who is the Coordinator of the RHYE, launched the programme.at the government house on Friday.
He laid the foundation of the programme alongside the Regional Coordinators for Kano Central, Kano North, and Kano South Senatorial Districts.
Speaking at the event, Hashim explained that the initiative was designed “for a disciplined and technology-driven grassroots structure dedicated to mobilising young people, amplifying government achievements, deepening community engagement, and translating youth energy into meaningful political participation and electoral success”.
The Commissioner added that the initiative is to encourage youth to engage young to move beyond being spectators in politics to become political actors.
He expressed commitment to building on the momentum and working collectively to deliver overwhelming victories in 2027 and beyond.
“Under the compassionate and inclusive leadership of His Excellency, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, young people in Kano have moved beyond being mere spectators in politics to becoming active participants in governance and development.

Hashim thanked the state’s governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf for the confidence reposed in him to lead the movement.
The inauguration was graced by the programme’s National Coordinator, Hon. Abdulaziz Abubakar Kaka, the Honourable Commissioner for Power and Renewable Energy, Dr. Gaddafi Sani Shehu, and the Honourable Commissioner for Environment, Kwara State, Hajia Nafisat Musa Buge.
Others include the State Coordinators from Plateau, Kaduna and Yobe States, party leaders, stakeholders, among others.
