The Commissioner, Kano state Ministry of Warer Resources, Dr Dahiru M. Hashim has handed over the leadership of the ministry of Environment and Climate Change to Hamza Safiyanu Kachako.
BizPoint reports that Hashim was appointed by the state’s governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf as Commissioner for environment while still overseeing the water resources ministry.
However, following a minor cabinet reshuffle by governor Yusuf, Kachako was redeployed to ministry of environment from the Kano State Ministry of Solid Minerals and Natural Resources.
In a statement on Monday, Hashim expressed appreciation to governor Yusuf for the confidence reposed in him and the opportunity to serve.
He also acknowledged the Permanent Secretary, Directors, management and entire staff of the Ministry for their cooperation and commitment throughout his time at the ministry.
Hashim also acknowledged their significant contributions to advancing environmental protection, climate action and sustainable development in the state, setting important institutional and policy foundations for the future.
He therefore urged the management and staff to extend the same cooperation, dedication and institutional support to the new Commissioner to ensure continuity, consolidate the progress achieved and sustain the Ministry’s mandate.
“As I hand over this responsibility, I remain confident that the environmental sustainability and climate action agenda of Kano State will continue to receive the attention and commitment it deserves.
“Public service is a continuous responsibility, and our collective focus must remain on strengthening institutions, delivering results and improving the wellbeing of the good people of Kano,” he stated.
