Maryam Danazimi Ibrahim, a female candidate from Nigeria has won ₦120 million, equivalent to 300,000 Saudi Riyals after emerging 1st in the Female Tafsir category of Hizb 60 at the just concluded 46th King Abdulaziz International Qur’an Competition, held in Makkah.
Ms Danazimi, from Gombe state in Northern Nigeria, emerged victorious in the second category, which involves memorization of the entire Quran with excellent recitation and Tajweed, as well as interpretation of Quranic vocabulary.
The lady was among the 50 contestants — 25 male and 25 female — who were named winners across five competition categories.
The Saudi Arabia honored the winners of the 46th King Abdulaziz International Competition for the Memorization, Recitation and Interpretation of the Holy Quran, with prizes totaling SAR 10.26 million.
The competition brought together 334 male and female contestants representing 133 countries from around the world.

On behalf of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman, Deputy Governor of the Makkah Region Prince Saud bin Mishaal honored the winners.

The 46th edition also marked the first participation of female contestants in the international competition, with 132 women taking part alongside 202 male contestants.

The King Abdulaziz International Quran Competition is organized by Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance, with the final rounds of the 46th edition held in Makkah.
